About “Eve of Destruction”

In Buddhism, the Lotus symbolizes pure potential–our ability to transcend the muck and mire of existance, even while our roots remain firmly planted in it.

The 1965 pop-folk protest anthem “Eve of Destruction” has always struck me in a similar way, blossoming defiantly from a time of impending madness with a simple aching beauty.

This painting is part of the series “The End is Near” which was exhibited at M Modern Gallery, Las Vegas, in May of 2007.
